Poll shows large support for Greens, split on Ahern issue, interest in politics mixed

A survey on students’ views on political issues shows unusually high support for the green party among students at Ballyfermot College of Further Education.

Majority in dark over EU treaty

The majority of BCFE students have no view or don’t know what the Lisbon Treaty is, a poll by the Ballyfermot Post shows.

Students were asked: “If the upcoming referendum on the Lisbon Treaty (which follows the rejected EU constitution) was held tomorrow would you vote.”  The survey shows that 64 percent of students chose “Don’t know / no view”.

67% look for action on climate change

The vast majority of students want action on climate change, with 67 percent of students agreeing that it is up to a mixture of governments and the individuals to stop the phenomenon.

Mixed views among students on abortion

One in three students says that it is up to the pregnant woman on whether to take the decision of abortion, according to our political poll, while one in five believes that the decision is up to both biological parents.

88% do not know of Irish “digital dossiers”

The government is tracking and storage phone calls and movements of people vie mobile phones, there are also plans to record internet commutations, but few students at BCFE appear to know of the current and planned data retention by the State.
