Student game developers to invade space

IRISH students have been developing versions of the classic Space Invaders for an internationally-judged competition.

XNA Ireland Challenge 2008 is set to take place this Wednesday at Tipperary Institutes’ Thurles Campus.
The students’ games have to include at least three levels. But unlike the original 2D arcade game, the competition is also allow 3D creations.

The contest is being backed by games companies including Microsoft, Sega, Rare, as well as the Dublin based DemonWare. XNA is Microsoft’s cross-platform system developing games on both Xbox 360 and Windows. For more see www.xna.ie.
