Saccade win bursary prize

Saccade

Dublin-based rock band Saccade, promoted by a group from the BCFE Music Management course, has won the €2,000 bursary prize provided by BCFE. The fund was created to help young bands produce their debut album.

The competition also featured bands such as Open Door Policy, Still Room, Leopold, Christopher Robin, and Red Enemy. The eventual winner was decided by two music industry professionals, Stephen Power from Sony BMG and Ann Marie Walsh who works as a music consultant.

Saccade (pictured above) consists of four members: Steve Walker, vocals/guitar; Jay Fowler, lead guitar; Phil Daily, bass/vocals; and Ed Kelly, drums/piano. They have been together for two years.

In 2007, they released their self-produced debut EP Choose Your Own Adventure which lead to supports slots with successful acts such as the Flaws, Delorentos and Ham Sandwich.
Their debut album Cooler than TV? is due for release in April.
