REVIEW: The Bank Job

Thebankjob

Cast - Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows

In 1971, Lloyd’s Bank of London suffered a humiliating and costly robbery of safety deposit boxes. Surprisingly no one was ever caught and no money (valued higher than the great train robbery) was ever returned.

Mechanic and small-time criminal Terry (Jason Statham) is offered the job as a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’, by his seductive old friend Martine (Saffron Burrows) who is in fact effectively working for M15 due to a recent drug charge. They are after incriminating pictures of a royal princess, using Martine as bait to lure in some ‘indispensables’ to do their dirty work.

Gathering a rag-tag bunch of misfits, Terry’s likeable gang successfully complete the raid only to discover that a host of undesirables, much nastier than them will be looking for retribution.

What follows is a dramatic change of pace with the gang engaging in a game of cat and mouse in order to survive. Similar to other movies of same genre but with plenty of character to keep you interested till the end.
