The Union of Students in Ireland, has selected a new president. The appointment makes it one of the first organisations in Ireland to welcome an ethnic leader.
Hamidreza Khodabakhshi (picture right, with megaphone) has been named USI president, he takes up the task of improving the image of the union and getting its message heard.

Xbox have launched a rock 'n' roll karaoke competition aimed at college and university students in and around Dublin.
The karaoke contest, Songs of Praise, kicked off last night at the
Village on Wicklow Street. There are nights for larger colleges, and an event open to all colleges at the Village next Sunday, December 2.

- Luas stop planned outside BCFE
Open days will be held next week for the planned Lucan Luas. The new line may serve areas such as Ballyfermot, Liffey Valley, Cherry Orchard, Inchicore, and Kilmainham.
One of the proposed routes will see the creation of a stop at Ballyfermot Village, just outside Ballyfermot College of Further Education.
